No, the creative activity of man can be traced back before our time up to the first hand-axes about 1.5 million years ago and yet something special happened on the day on which this small figurine was completed. But who or what is it all about?

And here you will learn, what is not in the article. Let me take a moment to follow my grandiose claims and bring you back in time and in the vicinity of the origin of this important work. So, about 27 000 years ago, a man or a woman, we do not know, was sitting around a campfire or in the sun rays of a clear winter day and scraped tirelessly with small flints of different shapes on this figure. In all probability it took days, weeks and maybe even months in which this man, perhaps, was wearing this little figure, and completed gradually. And now let us follow an unusual idea: Suppose easy, this figurine is the very first one, with which ever a member of mankind has tried to represent the shape of a woman. You might be objecting, but even if the very first sculpture in this regard is still buried somewhere under layers of debris, so it must have exist and with it this special moment of leap in the human consciousness. That’s right, in a world today, where there are more people made out of Bits and Bites and printer’s ink, than people exist on this planet, that seems to be nothing unusual for us. But go, go for a brief moment in thought in a zoo. Watch the many species of animals and join the ones you always have been fascinated of so immensely because they are similar to us – the apes. And now suddenly you discover how a chimpanzee with a piece of wood, that was lying around at random, and with a small pocketknife, which has been pulled out with skillfully fingers of the pocket from a visitor, is carving an shaping a small figurine of a chimpanzee. Then you would probably be stunned and amazed looking through the bars and witness a unique event. Namely a consciousness jump, in which a living being itself becomes conscious of itself and represents itself in a art-work by following a creative process, to be and to know more, than ever have before.
So this has happened about 27 000 thousand years ago, as the Venus of Willendorf was „born“. Let me express an another proud cultural thought. Non killing of mammoths and the non development of weapons, but this leap in consciousness has led to the development of human and eventually brought us the Internet, where you now read this article. The small Venus of Willendorf, the is the first work of art as a great gift to humanity.
